The Swedish experience with the open data as an inspiration for the reform of the public administration

Date: 19.03.2018

As a part of the project “Support for the process of reforms of the public administration”, the Center for change management, from the 12th till the 15th of March, organized a working visit to Sweden, as one of the countries with the most developed systems of open data, which is one of the key components of our project.

The delegation for the working visit included three employees from the Ministry of information society and administration, as well as two members of the cabinet of the President of the government of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as a three member delegation from the Center for change management.

During the visit, the delegation went to the central office of the national archive of the Nordic state, where we received detailed information about the policy of open data in Sweden and the key challenges in the opening of the institutions towards the public.

We also visited the company Metasolutions, which is working on the Swedish model of open data such as the solutions regarding the so called metadata.

The delegation also had very interesting visit to the central office of the Swedish cadastre, in Gavle, where we learned about the implementation of the open data in this institution.

One of the political institutions with high standards of open data in Sweden, which is also an example for the whole world, is the national Parliament.

During our discussions in the legislative house of Sweden, the Macedonian delegation got comprehensive information about all of the aspects of open data in the work of the Swedish parliament and its members, including the very detailed and open video archive from the speeches of the parliament members, compiled over the years, for various questions from public interest and the laws adopted by the legislative branch of the government.

This working visit to Sweden will certainly be a direct incentive and inspiration for the project which the CCM is implementing in partnership with the MISA.

The Swedish solutions for open data will be analyzed and might be incorporated in the Macedonian strategy for open data.
