Training on : Investigative journalism - safeguard of democracy and human rights

The training will be held form the 25 to the 26th of April 2016 (Monday and Tuesday) starting from 10:00 o’clock. Its aim is to increase the capacity of student’s journalists and young journalists as well as to enhance their skills and knowledge about investigative journalism.

This is the first from the three trainings planned to be held in other state universities. The training will consist of a number of lectures by experienced journalists dealing with investigative journalism and legal experts who will address the area of media-freedom and freedom of expression. Students from all academic years will be introduced to different views and experiences, theoretical knowledge and practical application of investigative journalism as a powerful weapon for the protection of democracy and human rights.

The project “Investigative Journalism Safeguard of Democracy and Human Rights” is a project financed by the European Union and is implemented by Center for Change Management (CCM) in cooperation with the Institute for Human Rights. It contributes to the strengthening of civil society organizations that are active in the field of freedom of expression and media, which in turn improves their influence on the policy making process for media-freedom, improves cooperation between them, supports media integrity and increases professionalism of journalists and media organizations. The objective is to meet the standards and criteria for EU membership and the relevance of the project provides a multitude of ways. These include establishing a platform of civil society organizations which will actively encourage and promote investigative journalism in the field of human rights and justice (Chapter 23 and 24), capacity building, development of professional standards and ethics with the support and cooperation of the media: TV Telma, Focus weekly web portal Novatv.mk, as collaborators of the project.
