The role of the Ombudsman in protection of the right to good administration

The aim of this research is to perceive the role of the Ombudsman in fulfilling the principles of good governance in our country, that is, the role of the institution in protecting and promoting the rights of citizens arising from that sphere.

This research included the following research steps:

  • Content analysis/ desk research (analysis of documents and reports) documents on the institutional and legal setting of the ombudsman
  • Content analysis/ desk research (analysis of documents and reports) about the way in which the ombudsman's reports are conducted, their content, i.e. which aspects they cover, i.e. what they focus on
  • Comparative observations and comparisons with the EU Ombudsman regarding the protection of the right to good administration
  • Interviews with the Ombudsman and his deputies regarding identified weaknesses and opportunities for improvement
  • Creating options and recommendations for improvement.

The research steps taken should answer the research question, that is, clarify the role of the ombudsman in a comprehensive way in promoting good governance and realizing the principles of efficient and effective public administration.
