On September 21, 2022, in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Center for Change Management (CMP) organized the conference "Gender Equality in the Workplace".
Within the framework of the conference, two panel discussions were organized, one of which was with representatives of the civil sector, who shared their experiences in the field and the results of conducted research. While the second panel discussion was composed of representatives of the business sector, who spoke about corporate policies aimed at improving gender inequality, as well as good examples from foreign companies, which can be easily applied in our country.
The executive director of CUP presented the existing information regarding gender inequality in our country, which highlighted the fact that a greater number of women are included in the inactive population, doing domestic duties, which is often unpaid and invisible work. In this direction, the director opened the issue of implementing the concept of "economy of care" in our country, as one of the possible mechanisms for improving the situation with gender equality.
The project coordinator at CUP, Jasna Pajkovska, presented the results of the short analysis of the examination of the opinion on gender equality in the workplace in our country. The results showed that it is necessary for companies to introduce state and corporate policies aimed at flexible working hours, as a way to improve gender equality in our country.
The conference is organized in cooperation with the "Alliance for Gender Equality", under the auspices of the wife of the President of the RSM, Mrs. Elizabeta Gjorgievska, and within the project "Measures to strengthen women's businesses after Covid-19" financially supported by USAID North Macedonia and The Balkan Trust for Democracy.
