Date: 04.09.2017

“I have a great deal of experience with criminals” said Paul Radu as he began his presentation this morning. Paul Radu is the executive director of Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and for more than 15 years reveals financial abuses and corrupt international scandals.

By invitation from Center for Change Management and the Institute for human rights, Radu held the training for integrity and professional standards in investigative journalism as part of the project “Investigative journalism- safeguard of democracy and human rights” financed by the European Union and co-financed from the British embassy in Skopje.

The training was consisted of enthusiastic students of journalism as well as journalists, investigative journalists and representatives of the civil society sector which according to Radu represent the future of investigative journalism.

His presentation was divided into two segments.

In the first segment Radu focused on how criminal organizations preform their activities and how they try hide illegal funds, while the second segment was dedicated to the research of these activities.

The work of investigative journalists says Radu should be aimed at discovering and proving/demonstrating the process of money laundry which criminal organizations do but most importantly to expose the identity of the people involved in the process.

The most vital result of the work of investigative journalists is to stop criminal organizations yet to complete their work without their identities being exposed, stated Radu adding that key importance is consisted of journalists working correspondingly  along with utilization of networks from journalists and organizations which already do research on organized criminal and corruption.

“Criminals and criminal activities know no borders; it is important that investigative journalists do the same”
