An event was held in the offices of the National Youth Council of North Macedonia. In the offices of the council the attendees were received by the General Secretary of the organization, Mariana Angelova. Mariana presented the role of the NYCM and its key importance as the largest youth organization focused on bringing together and coordinating organizations working at the national and regional level, rural and urban areas, student organizations, branches of international organizations and other types of organizations. She then explained how NYCM represents the interests of youth in Macedonia regardless of their social and economic status, gender, race, ethnic and cultural background, political and religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other type of difference. Mariana proceeded to show a presentation on the newly proposed model law on youth policy and lad a discussion focusing on the organizations role and the overall importance of youth involvement in improving the position of youth in society through the promotion and action for strengthening youth participation in the process of decision-making, promotion of youth activism, youth information and active citizenship among young people as well as uniting and developing the capacities of the youth sector by strengthening and promoting the role of youth organizations. Following the presentation Mariana and the attendees had an open discussion regarding the issues currently being faced by young people concerning the work of the government. The attendees shared their personal experiences when advocating for change as well as the challenges they have faced. The session concluded with a discussion on the future possibilities of transnational cooperation between the various youth organizations to collaborate on issues facing youth.
