Iskra Belcheva-Ristovska, project manager in the Center for change management, presented today the results and achievements of the project “Investigative journalism – Safeguard of democracy and human rights”, during the 13th international conference e-Society.mk “Freedom and privacy”.
In front of the attending participants, guests and representatives of the media, Belcheva-Ristovska underlined that the main goal of the project, which is in its final phase, was to strengthen the civil society organizations and the media in the process of practicing the freedom of expression, through the support for the investigative journalism.
According to Belcheva-Ristovska, the project has many notable achievements and it was focused on more target groups:
“For me, the most important group were the students, with whom we had the biggest engagement. We held a whole series of trainings with the students in the universities in Skopje, Shtip and Tetovo, which were attended by more than 150 students. We also organized a summer school for investigative journalism. Part of the students were also trainees in the media – partners of the project, but perhaps the most important result is that some of the students were also employed by the same media.” – said Belcheva – Ristovska.
She also presented the platform for cooperation between the CSO’s and the media, which is supported by the website istrazifakti.mk, where all the investigative stories done for the project are being published, as well as the other relevant analyses and documents.
Iskra Belcheva – Ristovska participated in the second session of the conference e-Society.mk, on the topic: “Freedom of expression and the media – legal and institutional framework”, together with Cvetan Stanoevski from the commission for the protection of the right of free access to the public information, Ivan Breshkovski from the Association of the journalists of Macedonia and Dejan Georgievski from the Center for development of the media.
