First public debate on standards for good governance in the units of local self-government.

First public debate on standards for good governance in the units of local self-government was held in the Municipality of Veles. The public debate was organized within the framework of the project "Monitoring  Principles of Public Administration in Preserving of  Good Governance Values" funded by the European Union under the IPA" Civil Society Facility and Media Programme 2015".

The event was opened by the Mayor of the Municipality of Veles, Mr. Ace Kocevski, who emphasized the importance of meeting the principles set in the developed standards, taking into account that they are in accordance with the principles of the European Union for good governance.

The public debate was an opportunity to present the developed standards for good governance and present the results of the research of the grantistis within the project. The research was carried out on the basis of monitoring the work of the local self-governments from the Vardar region of the level of fulfillment of the set standards.

The good governance standards constitute a framework of principles which local self-governments need to follow, referring to 5 key areas: Development and coordination of policies and strategies in the units of local self-government , Public service and human resources management, Transparency and accountability, Service delivery, and Managing municipal finances.
