Regional training on the concept of Open Data and Open Government Partnership

From 21 to 23 of December in Veles the first regional training on the concept of Open Data and Open Government Partnership in the framework of the project Citizens First was held. Representatives of local governments and of local civic organizations attended the training.

The aim of the training is that participants understand the concept of open data and contribute to the implementation of this approach in local government, thus to strengthen their influence in decision-making. On one hand representatives of local government units are trained how to publish open data and on the other hand representatives of local NGOs are trained on how to use open data for greater involvement in the decision of public policy at the local level.

The following modules were delivered by trainers:

Open Government Partnership and open data; LGU Budgeting Structure; Understanding financial data; Monitoring and reading budgets of LGU, and the impact of policy and evaluation - using open data in the creation of evidence-based policy; Active participation / principles of participatory decision-making; Protocols for effective / inclusive public participation.
