Programme goals

The aim of the programme is for the participants to acquire the basic concepts of gender equality and to recognize the social disparities that exist in the society, which are a condition for gender discrimination.

Contribution towards development of knowledge, skills and competences

At the end of the training the participants will:

  • Understand the historical context and shake the struggle for gender equality
  • Understand the impact of social norms on shaping our behavior as men and women
  • Recognize these patterns of behavior in institutions and everyday life
  • Understand the basis for women to be at a disadvantage, especially when it comes to the division of labor and power relations in society.
  • Be able to define mechanisms and ways to overcome gender stereotypes and prejudices

  • Social origin of gender relations
  • Basic gender concepts , stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination - definitions and examples
  • Gender division of labor and the triple role of women.
  • Recognition of (un) equal position and value and visibility of labor
  • Defining and Basic Principles of Gender Integration and Non-Discrimination Strategies
  • Access to and control of resources
  • Power relations
  • Defining power and recognizing power relations and gender issues
